Was on site today and someone in another office asked me to stop and take a look at their phone system. Evidently they had decided to take it out of the rack and go home with it, but left about a dozen handsets laying there.
The Handsets said "Norvantage" on the upper right hand corner and had a "Made by ESI" sticker on the back of them.
So my question is, what is it? She said it was 2-3 years old and was installed by a trunk-slammer from XO.
She is supposed to call me back with whatever model numbers she can find on the cabinet.

Sounds alot like the Norvergence fiasco of a couple of years ago. Google Norvergence for way too much info. Never heard of Norvantage though. Norvergence was a private label ESI.

Well it was Norvergence then... I couldn't remember the exact name and had nothing to write with at the time. Man, my memory is that bad after just a few hours... LOL  Well that answers half the battle I guess. If she ever sends me numbers off the cabinet maybe I can decode what this thing is and if anyone wants it.

What is a trunk-slammer? Is it
A. a phone installer who doesn't have a truck or van and keeps his tools in his car trunk?
B. an CLEC salesman?
C. all of the above?
D. none of the above?

It is probably an ESI X-Class since you say it was Rack Mounted. The lady you visited with might think it is 2-3 years old but her reference is probably to when it was installed, not when it was actually manufactured. PhoneSol is on the trail since there seems to be a trunk slammer roaming around in the area. This sounds like an opportunity for a joint effort.
What I want to know is who is playing with the system at home. I thought only people like me did that.

"Trunk Slammer" is also an official term for a golfer who doesn't make the cut. He tosses his clubs in the trunk and slams the door as he has rebooked his flight to Friday from Sunday.

Well, she took the cabinet and 1 phone home thinking it would just plug in and work like magic. I'm not too worried about it, she still hasn't sent me any information or how I can get a hold of her. She has to make the next move.
