Thanks to the help I've received here, I've connected to voicemail using cosessions. Everything seems straight forward in regards to adding transaction boxes, but when I do, I can't access the transaction box by its assigned ID. If I use ID 289, for example, I can't transfer calls to 289.

Also, I can't access the transaction box from the "owner's" phone to record a new greeting.

Obviously, I'm missing something. I would appreciate any ideas. Thank you.

you have to send the t-box a message from the owners box before it "realizes" who the owner is. Log into the owners box, it will prompt for security code and state, "you have XXX new messages, would you like to hear them now?" hit 2 for no, it will then ask "would you like to send a message," hit 1 for yes and send a message to the t-box, then the owner of that box can manipulate it as needed.

when you build the tbox you need to specify an owner (other than amy ronk or sandy simmons). that is the person that will be the"owner" of that box and you will have to log into that box then send a message to the tbox. when it asks to spell the name of the tbox press ## then enter the number. it will then ask you if you want to change it or something like that hit yes. then (re)record the greeting for that box.

or since you have to have cosessions to build the tbox call the vm, press local connect on the port you called in on, go to the tbox, hit record and do it that way.

Thank you. I'm able to record the greetings now, but I still haven't been able to transfer to the Transaction Box ID outside of the auto attendant. Everything routes correctly in the auto attendant.

My problem is that I thought the transaction box ID would be like an extension that could be transferred to by the receptionist, (like a subscriber extension). Punching in the three digit transaction box ID only generates an error message or an "enter your security code" message.

Is there another step to add the transaction box ID as an extension that can be transferred to?

Thank you for your help.

go to page 6 of the easy made apps. toward the bottom you probably see something like cng in a line called startup options (going by memory here...scary i know). put a space after the cng then ok2. hit enter. a pop up will come up hit enter to bypass.

as long as the tbox has a number for the id you should be able to just type in that number to go there.

the ok2 tells the vm that you are going to use 1 touch keys and to wait 2 seconds before going on. even though you may not use the 1 touch keys (ie press 1 for this, 2 for that etc) it is a good idea to do it.

Okay, this is concerning. I checked page 6 of the easy made apps and startup options read "ok2." (Is the "cng" for a fax? We don't have one on the system.) I added changed to "cng ok2" and hit enter. The prompts lead me to think the cng was fax related, so I removed it and replaced the "ok2" and entered out.

When I checked the system, typing the tbox number (289) when transferring results in "Please enter your personal code"--same as before. Then I dialed from a cell, got the auto attendant and chose the 1 touch key to hear the tbox. Instead of playing the tbox message, it also now says, "Please enter your personal code." Last night, the 1 touch key worked fine--it played the tbox message. So now what?

Thanks again for your help, Chris and jhenke. It's a little like Christmas checking back here for the next update. (No pressure though.) I think this may mean I am not so young anymore.

Silly question, and forgive me if I'm off the beam -- but I'm not sure after reading your post -- is there an extension or phantom extension 289 on the telephone side, or just a mailbox 289 on the voicemail side?

Sometimes people forget that VM and phones are two different systems, even though they "live together."

Telephoneguy,

On 4-10, 289 is set as the 24th extension. This is good, right? Again, the only problem I have now is that after the call is answered, they can't transfer the call directly to the transaction box. They can send callers back to the main geeting where the tbox is an option, but I wanted callers to be able to be sent directly to the tbox (less chance for confusion).

Thanks

sounds like it is a regular user vm box instead of a tbox. tboxes don't ask for a password.

log in with your pc. watch the little info at the top when you call in and try to dial the 289 to see where it goes.

is there a phone actually connected to port 24? or is it just a ext that is programmed without a phone attached? if this is the case then you get all kinds of funky stuff. need to build 289 as a virtual or phantom ext in 1-2-04 in the system & forward it all to the vm.

you're right about the cng by the way it is for fax detect. if you're not using fax thru the vm it is best to turn this off as you'll get wierd empty messages in the public mailbox.
