We just installed a new DSX 80. A few issues have surfaced the first is a clicking on the line. Verified we had a good grnd, was told that the software needed to be upgraded. Second issue is the SMDR we have installed the Full version of Ultra CallAnalyst each time we connect the pc to the system the system goes down. Any thoughts?

For the SMDR Make sure you have the correct Adapter (the 6 conductor one for the DSX) and the 6 conductor cord has to be reversing

6p6c plug to 6p6c plug
1 ↔ 6
2 ↔ 5
3 ↔ 4 (this is the reversing cord)
4 ↔ 3
5 ↔ 2
6 ↔ 1


pins in jack to DB 9
1 ↔ 4
2 ↔ 3
3 ↔ 5 (this is the adapter)
4 NC
5 ↔ 2
6 ↔ 1

You absolutely, positively want to have the latest software before going any further - it has resolved many issues.

did you use factory cables or make your own (rj 61x)

I would use the factory 9 pin adapter , there around 6 bucks , you cant make one for that

did you read the FAQ on smdr at the DX80 site ?

As bill has stated upgrade to the latest SW
Here is a list of resolved issues

And for the SMDR CHECK THAT ADAPTER. There was a post that was kicking around for about a week (1 week ago)and it was the adapter was the wrong one.

I had to go out on another vendors install last week that complained about the same thing. I checked the 8 pin heads and they were wired 568B.

Check your heads on the line cards and verify that they are

Pin 1 Tip Pair 4 White/Brown
Pin 2 Tip Pair 3 White/Green
Pin 3 Tip Pair 2 White/Orange
Pin 4 Ring Pair 1 Blue/White
Pin 5 Tip Pair 1 White/Blue
Pin 6 Ring Pair 2 Orange/White
Pin 7 Ring Pair 3 Green/White
Pin 8 Ring Pari 4 Brown/White

This Pin out is using the first 4 pair as an example

Also update your software to the latest and it should help.

As for the SMDR The adapter is needed and a couple of options programed. PM me your number if you need some help on it.

Just upgrade two this week which took under 10mins.After restarting the ksu cklicking was gone.

Guys, I thank you very much you have given me enough information that we should be able to correct these issues. Just to answer all of the questions from above: the software was not upgraded, Yes we always grnd our systems, yes we did look at the FAQ on the website. You guys are great to jump in and offer help...many thanks.
