It would seem that NEC has not herd, most new laptops don't have DB9 serial ports. Is there a way to connect the DIN port on the DS2000 CPU to my laptops USB 2.0 port with building a monster.

Thanks, Nick C.

Buy a USB/serial adapter.

try www.newegg.com

Best buy has them too but they are a little pricey.

You can get them on Ebay pretty cheap but they are hit or miss there.

I contacted NEC directly on this same issue; and as stated above not all adapters will work. NEC recommended an IO Gear adapter and it works well.

I bought a cheopo no name usb/serial adapter off eBay for less than 20.00 that works just fine

I did find it only works on one of my USB ports but as I understand some USB ports are powered and some aren't so I'm guessing the one it works in is powered

A quirk I recently discovered on a DS2000 when I couldn't connect was to change the Baud to 9600 then I could get in

Thanks to all of you,
I will get the adapter, and be mindful of the baud rate.
Again Thanks Guys,

I have learned from bad experience that not all USB > serial adaptors are equal. The only make that i have found here that works on all NEC and Activoice products is one called a Bafo 810.
