$$$$$$$$$$$$, its all bout $$$$$$$$$$$.
We refurbed about 20,000 of the old desk and wall style sets for (then) Lucent about 8 yrs ago.
They sent "junk" for us to sort through and I was pulling good working sets out of the pile that were as old as I was at the time. Th date stamps on some of the earlier networks and ringer motors dated back to the 60's. The only part that seemed to wear more frequently were the mechanical key pads. Inside were levers that had nubs,(x/Y) but the nubs were worn down and wouldn't close the reed switch.
Talk about getting your $ worth.
You don't sell new product when you build bullet proof equipment!
