hi,

if you have a Windows Server 2003, you can use the DHCP server with some options in the DHCP server that tell the phones what the Registration IP address is and the port 5080.

i hope this helps.

I just did an 8100 with around 150 IP stations.

I did not do DHCP at the customer's request.

Probably one of the easiest install's I've done.

I replaced a hosted IP solution and just went around to each phone one by one and entered the new IP addy and vlan info. Had 2 other's helping and it took about an hour, far less time than x=connecting 150 stations.

I just made the last 3 digits of my static ip's on the station match the ext number...

Easy Easy 123. Whole install with 2 PRI's and 150 phones took about 4 hours to completely program and cut over, including voicemail with UM etc...

I will pM each of you but I ran into a problem today Their Vlan was giving us some issues, THey hav axxx.xxx.59.0 for there data with Vlan Id of 5,Our Voice was going to use Vlan 3 We set a Phone to those protocols and the 8100 as well as ID 3 and the phones were setup as DHCP I have always done static, MULTIPLE vpns, nETLINK ETC ETC BUT, because of the High Voulme of phone we went DHCP but we still had to manual put in the port ,Server, Ext# and they would not get a xxx.xxx.6.0\ adress they have Cisco 3650 POE switches but it was pulling the DHCP from their Data Lan xxx.xxx.59.0 scheme vlAN 5, so they blew the VLan all together and we went with a physical seprate LAn they had the CableS in place FOR EVERY PHONE, but with some CTI issue Unified Messaging and Fax server ips had to be on the data side for the VOice Mail....so after seeing dutchies email they do have a 2003 server for their IP xxx.xxx.59.0 side what could I request from them to have the port 5080? all the phones have manually entered 5080 from 5060 so if I set the phones to DHCP and I tell the It guy to make the setting in his Server, I still have to tell the phones what the Sip server{IPLA} Ip address is, that was entered manual as well, so on a grand scale what do you think the fastest to change all these phones again to Vlan 3 a new IP address and the IPLA address as well as the port, after all the phones are 5060 by default,
THANK YOU FOR THE RESPONSE!!!!!!!
I have the phones up now with no issue but we want to tie the 2 together but the Vlan gave us issues because the phones were not pulling their DHCP from the xxx.xxx.6.0 side it was pulling from the xxx.xxx.59.0 side, what could they change in their settings because we were under the impression that with the VLAN ID of 3 in the Phones it would pull an adress from the 6.0 side, so does that mean we need to manually input the address for each phone? also has any one used IP Phone Manager and is there any way this tool would help me THANX A MILLION. Im on the edge but Im missing a peice!

IPphone manager is very handy but will only work with one IP address on your PC. So if like allot of use who have multiple addresses you will have to set just one.. The latest version I have here is v3.1.0 released feb 2010

Is there a auto config, and if so do you have to do them in Numerical order(the ext#s)

Autoconfig with DHCP is by far the way to go. I have done multiple installs of 100+ phones on 8100 and 8300 with DT700 endpoints and have had good results. Consult the DT700 resource manual for exact details on config files and vendor options but in a nutshell
-Create VoIP VLAN with InterVLAN routing in place for apps and DHCP if using central DHCP server
-Configure bootp/dhcp UDP forwarding on intervlan router
-create a config file that contains the settings you desire. This should include SIP info, ToS markings, 802.1Q tagging parameters. I like to mark the VoIP VLAN at the endpoint and disable the tag for the PC port. This way I can use the native VLAN parameter on the access layer switchport. Upload the config file to an FTP server
-configure DHCP scope for VoIP subnet per DT700 resource manual (vendor specific options)including ftp download server IP, config file name and download protocol (ftp)
-configure switch for 802.1Q for the ports that will have DT700s with PCs with native VLAN for whatever your data VLAN is. This is referred as tagged/untagged in non-cisco lingo
-Set up FTP server to house your config files that you built with anonymous access
Plug your phone in and let it boot. it will boot multiple times. the initial boot will be to the native VLAN as there is no tag yet. The phone will learn its TCP/IP and location/file name of config file to download via FTP from DHCP offer. Phone will go get the config file where it will learn about it's VLAN config. The phone will reboot now with VLAN tags set thus boot into the VoIP VLAN, again getting DHCP now on the VoIP VLAN and redownload/compare config. You will know that it learned of its VLAN config the screen will show CONNECTING (VLAN)...

HAM, sounds like your issue is that interVLAN routing was nonexistant. You must have routing between the two VLANs and forward UDP broadcast for the DHCP if you wish to use a central DHCP server.
