Greetings,

What is the proper shutdown and power up procedures for the NEC Univerge NEAX 2000 IPS?

We have a site that the power to the building will need to be shut off to upgrade the infrastructure coming into the building.

I want to shutdown the IPS and disconnect it from the electrical to avoid damage by surges when the power is turned back on.

Thanks,

Down....CPU cabinet off first!

Up......CPU cabinet last!

Our setup has 4 NEC cabinets plus the admin PC.

Would I just turn off the power switch on each cabinet? In which order? (top to bottom or bottom to top)
Same order or reverse when turning back on?

One of the cabinets, usually the bottom one, will have a processor in it. For IPS, it would be a CP-24A. It will be in the furthest right slot, which is marked MP-12/FP-12. If you tilt your head to the left, and look at the top of the card, you'll see PN-24A silk-screened onto the board.

That's the processor cabinet or CPU cabinet that R4+Z was talking about.

The processor should never know that the other cabinets went dark. So kill that cabinet first and turn it on last. As R4+Z said.

I see the cabinet with the CP24-D processor on the bottom.
So that gets turned off first, and turned on last.

Thank you both for your help.
