I have a small UX5000 installed in conjunction with another PBX. I am using it to create a larger number of analog (SLT) extensions than the existing PBX currently supports.

I have four CO trunk ports on the UX, tied to existing analog station ports on the other system. I have set my UX ports to automatic trunk line seizure – so when one of them goes off hook, they are connected to the other PBX as an extension on that system. They are able to call extensions on the other system with no problem. And for this setup- I am not concerned about calling back into the extensions on the UX……

But, I also want them to be able to get an outside trunk through the other PBX. Once I get dialtone, I think I should be able to dial “9” and get an outside trunk from the other system. I can do that if I am directly connected to the PBX station port – but not through the UX. The “9” never comes through…..

I am thinking there is some setting related to either 911 dialing, or behind PBX setup that is keeping this from happening. I have fiddled with some settings in those areas, but no luck.

Any ideas?

Yes - no go on that either. I can listen to the DTMF coming out of the UX5000 with a butt set.....works fine unless I dial 9 first.

On IVS/2/IPS, there used to be one code for "don't strip digits" -- tables 8A4005 and 8A4006 both stripped digits, but table 8A4007 didn't. Maybe the UX5000 has a similar table that won't strip the leading 9 (but you'll need to strip it on the far end).

I would check your ARS or toll restriction as well.

Turns out the UX5000 was just waiting to see what I was dialing next. I assumed that after dialing a "9" I would get CO dialtone...... if I dial "9" and the number to call, it goes thru.

Thanks for the advice all!

You should also have an option for "second dial tone," which might make it easier on the users.
