I am new to the Aspire system, but have installed a lot of DSX systems. I have been asked to look at a system where the users are reporting a lot of line noise type issues, crackling and poor volume, disconnected calls. I'm a little puzzled though because they are using all digital stations (no VOIP) and their incoming connection is a PRI, yet the noise issues sounds like an analog problem almost.
They do have a COIU card providing four analog lines for fax devices and they have an SLIU card for the fax devices themselves. I thought about removing the two analog cards as a test, but I don't want to mess up the port numbers somehow.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot crackling noises during conversations on digital lines?

I had a similiar issue with crackling and it ended up being a bad cpu .I believe it would happen on internal and external calls .

I have had a PRI do that before. It was a bad card at the CO.

1st, try to duplicate the trouble onsite, then verify the timimg & check all of the wiring connections from the telco D-Marc to the PRI card. You can also try swapping out the hardware as well before you get the telco involved.
