It seems that in the past few months that I get multiple spam mail, as many as 6 or 8 of the same thing from the same sender, that ultimately ends up in my spam folder. Just wondering if anyone else experiences this.
After all how many times do you need to read or get offers for some knock off of a perscription drug, or the next big stock?

I suspect that it's a result of more and more computer professionals finding themselves out of work.

Yes VoIFF I'm glad you brought that up. I have had that problem for some time now. And there all drugs and stocks. Is there anyway to stop them. I get like 25 to 30 a day sometimes more.

If you're using your ISP, then you may check to see if they offer any email filtering. I use to have 100+ spam messages a day when we hosted our own email. My email is now forwarded to my Earthlink email address and I use their filtering. Very little spam now. -Larry

It is through our ISP (Bellsouth). I will check with them and see if they can filter it. Thanks Larry.

My ISP 'tags' suspected spam and I filter that on my end, I also have been digilantly adding blocked senders as I get untagged spam in my inbox. I have also been setting message rules to catch spam and put it in the appropriate folder which is emptied and deleted every day.
All this with the normal anti-virus stuff, it seems that it takes a little more of your time everyday to manage all the junk though. I'd still like to return a self destruct command to the spammer's offending computer though. :nono:
Michael My ISP changes the subject line to 'SPAMTAGGEDxxx" where xxx is my ISP's domain name. All of that goes directly to the spam folder, I still hesitate to delete it off the mail server unread because some things from good people get tagged for some reason.

We contacted the compant that host our e-mail and they said they would turn on a spam blocker for us Friday. Since then I have gotten very few spam e-mails.
Thanks for the info fellows,

One of the things people forget about SPAM is...they have to have your email address in the first place. Now there are several ways to do this, but the most common...and easiest to prevent...is by not using the TO field when sending multiple emails. One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone sends me an email, and I am one of 20 people in the "TO" field. Now, all those people have my email address. If just one of them has a SPAM bot, Spyware, or virus on their machine, it has my address. Whenever you want to send an email to multiple receipients, use the "TO" field to send the message to yourself, and then use the "BCC" or blind carbon copy field to send it to everyone else. Recipients will now be unable to see other emails addresses. I always pass on a little note to anyone who doesn't do this. Some get it, some still don't. It won't stop it all, but it will slow it down. You can also use some of the SPAM killers that make a person verify thier address before sending. While this can be a pain, it can cut down on things.
