The Isolated Ground Panels I installed had their feed fed directly from the MGB at the building entrance which was connected to the street side of the water main. A big PITA - at least in the building I was in then - 90 Church Street right next to Ground Zero. It was an old WPA building, built like the Rock of Gibraltar and it withstood everything 9/11 threw at it - including a Jet engine landing on the roof.

While the rest of the panels eventually were fed from this MGB, the IGs were fed direct. The engineers felt that this reduced "noise" on the circuits. Doubling up the Neutrals reduced Harmonics.

Hal - you're on the money. I can't speak for most Electrical Contractors, but the people I worked for in NYC followed the rules.

We did not run separate circuits for PCs unless they were servers. This was not done for power requirements, rather just to keep a failure on some other part of the branch circuit from taking down a critical component.

We would install "PC only" circuits - but that lasted only until the users got on site and started moving everything around.

Hal...I stand corrected. I wasn't at the office, but the cottage and it's been a while since I worked with IG outlets. You were right, it's between the ground lug and the yolk, not neutral & ground lugs.

Ed, if what you say is true about taping the conductor, I bet there are a heck of a lot of "defects" down there from the inspectors.

I used to work with an electrician friend of mine from time to time and he insisted the conductors be of the right colour. Even when changing an entrance, any 2/12 wires that were used for hot water tanks or heating, etc. had to be black & taped red if not already done so. It was logical and I do it all the time when there isn't black/red wire in use.
