I have a customer with the foll0wing equipment for the hotel's guest wireless:
Adtran Netvanta 3448 as the router Netgear 8 port 10/100 switch 5 old Buffalo Airstation router/WAPs
Marriott is now requiring that all guests are bandwidth limited. The Netvanta will only limit bandwidth per port or per user based on Mac Address; with dynamic users, neither option will work. I am supposed to use either Cisco or HP equipment and I am trying to keep from replacing the router or the WAPs. Any suggestions?

Do you know of a Cisco or HP product that offers the same functionality but won't break the bank?

LOL HP ProCurve stuff costs about 4x a TP-Link. It all depends on your bankroll.

Thanks for posting this topic. Now I know to avoid Marriott for business trips.

Although its not Cisco or HP there is a great product called M0n0wall which is free and supports traffic shaping and limiting. Ive used it in hotels and its rock solid and also has some other nifty features like a captive portal. Did I mention its free?? You can run it on almost any computer and you can use a flash card adapter so you dont have a hard drive to worry about. There are also dedicated appliances to run it if you dont want to install a PC. https://m0n0.ch/wall/

I agree with putting in a good quality managed switch.

X2 what mdaniel said.
Verify the switch has the capability to limit ingress/egress per port.
