We have a comdial DXP Key voice system V8.1. I have set up for a holiday greeting as per the manual and had our tech rep check out the setup. He says it is OK. I created a holiday routing box that the reception is the owner (as with other boxes). I then put in the holiday dates and specified that routing box. Except that it doesn't work. The holiday box greeting is bypassed for a system greeting that says "Please hold while I transfer you to that extension" and then nothing happens. This is before anyone presses anything. Any ideas.

It sounds like it wasn't saved, which would go back to the default message that you are getting. Go into the Admin. and make sure the new programming is still there and re-save it or re-do it.

I checked the greeting on the routing box and it is still there as the current greeting. Is there possibly anything in the programming (using the WYSE terminal) that could be preventing this from working? TIA again.

Is the greeting (holiday) assigned to the lines, as you can assign different greetings to different lines, That's about all I can think of as it sounds like you have the greeting and times programmed right. Let me know. You might want to post it in the Voice Mail category as well, he might know what its doing.

Are the line assignments made through System\Lines? Only Day, Night and Lunch are available for box assignment. Should it be here? If so that sounds like something my tech rep should have to program in with the terminal. Please let me know as he is going to be here Monday for other issues. TIA once again. I appreciate your help.

Its hard for me to tell you were the problem is with out taking a look at system and voice mail programming. If you have a tech coming on Monday he should be able to get it going with no problem. If were you I would watch him and have him teach you how to change greetings so you can avoid problems in the future.
Good luck

Our tech thinks it is set up OK. But obviously something is amiss. I took your advice and posted this in Voicemail also stating that you recommended that I do so. Thanks for all your help. Hopefully I will find an answer.

I found my problem but I need a bit more understanding of the system before I make any changes. Hopefully you can help. I believe the problem is thus:

I think routing box 800 (called Day Main Routing Box)is the first routing box encountered. This is set to route based on digits dialed. For the Holiday greeting to work the first routing box encountered has to rout based on Day/Night services. It seems to me there should be a routing box whose job it is to route to the other boxes based on Day/Night services. I am not sure if 800 is the first box as there is a Night Main Routing box also and the Holiday routing should supercede Day or Night routings. Am I on the right path? Would 800 normally be the first box encountered? If not, what would be? TIA once more.

Double check your schedule, It sounds like you are missing a schedule assignment. Take a good look at it and make sure you have the times in right.
By the way, why didn't your tech get it going for you?
