I think you are talking about a J1632 DSU or DSUII. You can use procomm or Hyperteminal to programm the system. You can also use an LCD phone such as a 7700, 8012, 8024.

Procomm is a terminal emulation programm alot like hyperterminal. The early versions were shareware DOS versions later versions are for windows. If you are used to hyperterminal stay with it.

How can you use the phone to program the DSU? I've looked at all my manuals I have here but I can't find any info on it. I have a J1632 with 8024 phones.

Thanks.

In your programming section of your manual it explains quite well how to program from your two program stations.

Can you give me the specific "manual" name or a link to the one on comdial's site? Like I said, I haven't been able to find it.

What you are looking for is the DSU II install and program manual

You can find the manual by clicking on the manuals link at the top of the page.
My advice:
1) Get the manual
2) Try, without any experience whatsoever, to understand the manual
3) Fiddle around in programming for a while just enough to take down half your system
4) Call a technician who knows the system and pay them to help you out.
For my money, I would skip 1-3.
Just my 2 pennies.
