I know very little, so forgive me.

Our business has the Comdial DX-80 with Coorporate Office DX (7270c). I have been trying to learn more about it so that I can do some of the programming. We have three businesses that rely on this system. I was able to do a direct connection via a serial port cable today. I used the Keylink software to look around at the settings. To my knowledge, I didn't make any changes...although I ended up "escaping" to may times and came to a dos prompt (something like //c/vm>?). So, I just turned of the computer and left it hooked up. Now, the voicemail doesn't respond to any of the lines and it just rings. You can't even get to the voicemail by the voicemail key on the phone pad.

How could I have disabled it?

I need to get this working tomorrow morning or I am in BIG trouble!

If you can get back in with keylink, type govm and it should restart. if not reboot your switch and it should come up.

the easiest way will be to shut the system down and wait a minute then power it back up and the VM program should boot up all by itself. If not, from the keylink dos prompt you can type govm to execute the voicemail dos program. (if that's the wrong .exe file somebody correct me, Comdial uses several, I wish I had a list)
In the future, when exiting the vm programming DO NOT choose exit, instead choose "display line status" and just x out of the keylink screen like you would any windows program.
You just shut down the VM program, no big deal. I'll check to make sure that the "govm" is correct, but power down everything and start up again should reboot the whole system with nothing lost.

Dumb question. To reboot the system...do I turn of the switch of the main comdial box? Or can you reboot the voicemail separately?

Our tech guy claims that the onboard modem is optional on this card-and we don't have it. The information I read states otherwise..it just has to be programmed for modem use. Do you have any info on how to set it up? I'd like to be able to work from home, so that programming doesn't interfere with work during the day.

No question is dumb, yes you turn off the power to the DX-80 to reboot the system and voicemail. The modem is an optional card, there is just programming already reserved for it.

If this is realatively new DX-80 (last 6 months or so) the Corporate Office DX comes with the modem built in.

Check with DTMF the other Moderator on here and he can get you the right info on how to use the Keylink DX program and how you can access programming remotely.

To determine how new the system is, what information could I give you? I'll look on the card tomorrow and pull off any numbers I can find.

The 7270c hard drive VM will allow a modem connection to both the ksu & VM, but you have to set it up with the onboard jumpers. If you need documentation, I can get it for you. The 7271c and the older 7243 does not have the built in modem.

I couldn't find any model numbers on the card. I could only find dx-80. I must not know where to look!
