Hi everyone.
Need some assistance from the group with an issue.
First off, I have a Comdial DSU-II with the 2 additional add-on moduals installed. So we have the ability to have 16 lines externally. We use a Comdial Impact 8324s phones.
Ok, we just added 4 additional external lines (we had 12, now we have the max of 16). The previous Network Admin has the 8324s programmed with the 12 lines viewable on the programmable buttons. I'd like to add the 4 new additional lines to the programmable buttons.
I've found on the web some documentation for programming these buttons (there are 24 buttons on the 8324s), but nowhere in the documentation is there reference on how to program in the lines. I see references for programming in just about everything else, but not what I'm looking for.
So my question is... Can these 4 new additional lines be added to the Impact 8324s programmable buttons? If so, can that be done at the station (via the LCD interface) or must this be done via the Serial port interface on the DSU-II?
And... If it does need to be programmed via the Serial port interface on the DSU-II, are there directions to do this?
I'm not a telephone guy (more of a PC & Networking guy) but can follow directions easily enough to complete this task.
All of your valuable knowledge is VERY welcome and appreciated!
Thanks!

All the information you need is in the manual. If you don't have a manual, you will need one, see the manual link at the top of the page. This open forum is designed for the end user to ask questions that are not at an installer level. It's simply not feasable to try to walk someone through installer level issues in the open forum. Get and read the manual, if you then have specific installation / programming questions you can send an email or send a private message to a Comdial moderator or installer for tech support, there is usually a fee for this level of help. Welcome to the board. Mark

Hi....
Thanks for your quick response.
I thought I could program it from the telephone station. I just wanted to be sure.
I also presume there is a manual available for purchase that could assist me with this process? If so, do you have the manual ID or document number that I can reference to be sure I'm getting the right manual?
Sorry if I had inappropriately posted incorrect content.
I appreciate all of your assistance. Thanks!
Respectfully, GB

All you really need is a DSUII manual. That system manual is generic to the Digitech, Impression, and Impact telephone when used with the DSUII. There might be one that "features" the Impact specifically, but I'm not a ware of it. The system programming is the same regardless which phone set you use, the phones buttons are just laid out differently. The manual is available at the link on the top of the page.

Just a suggestion....but with that amount of lines it seems to me that a more efficient programming scheme would be parks and loops (or sometimes called Call and parks). That way you will get your calls but not have to deal with seeing all 16 lines, which is a lot on each phone....that would also free up space to have DSS buttons or more feature buttons. Just my opinion though, maybe your business requires you to have all 16 lines in view.

I agree. I believe you can have up to 3 call keys. They should appear and be available (I think this is right) simply by leaving the first 3 buttons (top left) unprogrammed, and then have no line appearances. Your calls should appear there, unless they are intercom calls. Then just program Park keys on other keys, and that will give you the ability to pass calls around.
