'Morning all. I've been reading through the forum and I've learned quite a bit with these posts that go beyond the documentation I have been reading on the DX-120 - many thanks.
This is our first DX-120 installation (most of my experience lies in installing and configuring TeleVantage - but we needed something a little more affordable and less overkill for this application), and I had a couple of questions I'm hoping you can shed some light on.
1. What is the 'Remote Ext Table' option located under System Resource in PCDBA? I've searched the provided documentation and online help, neither of which seem to point to this function. It looks like you could use this to set up an extension which would call an outside number - which would be a great solution to my second question.
2. The DX-120 is installed in a doctor's office which requires the use of an offsite answering service after hours. Currently, we have the system switch to evening mode at 4 PM which causes the office's main DID to translate to the UCD for VM (DX-80 Corp VM). The VM side has a mailbox set up that blind transfers (in evening mode) to EXT 103 which is forwarded at all times to the answering service. Reason being is we could not get VM to call the answering service directly even with the help of Comdial support and after trying numerous call initiation strings in VM configuration. Comdial told us that a future software release would most likely take care of the problem (very strange as I've read several posts here about successful configurations of VM notifications to cell phones, etc). I would like to know if there is a way to have the DX-120 forward to the answering service when it is in evening mode without having the VM side call forward from a mailbox. "External call forwarding for DID" is mentioned in most of the feature sheets as a part of the T1/IDSN trunking option (which we have installed) - but I have yet to find a clear explanation of how to program that option and if it can be triggered by rolling the DX-120 into evening mode.
My thought is I can use the table I mentioned in (1) to set up an extension to an external number and make that the translation for the main DID in evening mode. Please let me know if you have any suggestions - I appreciate it!

You could set the evening mode to point to ext 103 and then set that extension to forward all calls to the answering service.
For example, I have a twenty number DID setup on a T1 line and have the last DID number ring my installer's phone in the back room. I have that phone set to external call forward to my cellphone.
Make sure you set ext 103 to allow external call forward: 1. EXTENSION > ECF OPERATION :Y/N (N is default)

Any of the notification options in VM will fail if you don't take the T out of the string for accessing an outside line (in voicemail). By default, it's set to 9T. Because PRI is digital, there is no reason to convert digits to DTMF. Look for the T character in the Transfer Sequence screen too.
Setting up offsite forward from a phone is tricky (setting it up on a button, that is), but someone detailed it to me in another thread.
