I've been given the task to maintain the ole' Comdial system we have and I've been asked to look into SIP capabilities for this system.
It's an MP5000 with an MP5-12G card in it.
My questions are...
Is it SIP capable?
Can I use third party sip clients (soft or hard)?
Is special licensing needed for third party clients?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

The MP5000 supports SIP. Don't know what the existing MP5-12g is flashed for... Could be SIP, networking, or IPrimo sets. 3rd party licensces were once available...don't know if they still are.

UPDATE!! 3RD party licenses are available. Hooked up a Linksys IP3000 wireless SIP set today and it worked successfully.

What kind of feature set do you get with a 3rd party SIP phone?
