I'd also like to know what file that is. Also, I thought 8.5.11b was the latest. I didn't know there was a 8.5.11c.

I have no idea what release he sent me, but he did send me this as part of a Word doc.

How to install DX80.HEX file on the 7270-7271:
1. Save DX80.HEX on your laptop and remember the path.
(For example C:\TEMP\DX80.HEX)
2. Connect with KeylinkDx.
3. Exit to DOS.
4. Browse to C:\MEDFED directory.
(at C:\VM type CD \MEDFED)
5. Rename existing DX80.HEX to DX80.OLD
(Type REN DX80.HEX DX80.OLD)
6. Using DXGETFL copy over the new DX80.HEX file.
(Click on the “Transfer” button then select “Send File”

Comdial never did call me. I haven't upgraded anything yet.

Owww....wait. The Comdial tech said I needed an upgrade chip (ala DX80 firmware upgrade method). I asked him to clarify that and he wanted to make sure if I had the PRI card or T1 card.

He said you need a new chip if you have the ISDN PRI card. I have the T1 card and it didn't apply to me and never will as ISDN is priced to get rid of it at $120 per channel ($240 for two channels), so I didn't pursue asking anymore about it.

One channel/two channel? Are you talking about ISDN-BRI or ISDN-PRI?

$240 for a full BRI from Embarq in my area.

Not sure what Verizon PRI for voice works out for around here; but I moved one customer that was paying about $1,200 for dial tones and with frac PRI of 12 channels, its about $800 per month.

You mileage, err...telco may vary.

Back on topic, even though Comdial doesn't have the DX80.hex file up on their site, you can call them for it. Now that F20 has been released, they are apparently recommending that you upgrade to F20 AND replace the DX80.hex (in the MEDFED folder) with the one they have, which is supposed to be a driver that fixes the problem with error 2002/2, which I just realized one of my sites was experiencing. Thanks to this board, I knew about the problem and the fix, so I was able to ask specifically for this file. The 2002 error is listed as a known issue in the F19 release notes, but there is no mention of it (that I was able to find) in the F20 release notes. Once again, the Sundance Tech Talk board saves the day! :thumb:

Rumor has it, the dx80.hex corrects the 2002 error (but will expose a benign 2001 error instead of the 20002 lockup)

The complete solution for vm is the new dx80 .hex and the new f20. The new chip is for PRI.
