Hello All!

I would like to know how to change the main message on the phone system? This is the message that answers the phone at night or when nobody answers the main line. The person who changed it last time is no longer here so we have no clue how to change the main greeting?

The main bow in the server room says Comdial DXP & on a side tag it has DXPSW DLR68K?

Hope this helps...

THX!

The DXP is the phone system. We will need to know what kind of voice mail system you have in order to answer your question.

Dennis, Welcome to Sundance Tech-Talk. welcome

You have a DXP alright, but we need to know what voicemail system you have. There should be a pc connected to the DXP. Lets see first if you have a keyvoice voicemail system, if so we can help you from there. Also do you have a password for the mailbox of the person that used to change the greeting?

There's a Compaq Desk Pro hooked up to it & I don't know if this helps, but there's a tag that has DPEP-P400/10.0/W5C US on it?

What is on the screen of the PC. I do not remember Comdial sending out Compaq Desk Pro PCs for voicemail. They did use that model PC for other products.

CMDL_GUY is correct. If Keyvoice is running on that PC, it must have been a former home PC, or somebody borrowed it from another Comdial installation and has reconfigured it to serve the voicemail.

That is the voicemail PC, you stated in your PM that you have the password of the person that changed the greetings. If default routing boxes were used then box 800 will be the day greeting and box 801 will be the night greeting. Sometimes box 70, again default will be the supervisor that will access boxes 800 & 801.
From the main screen you can press the F3 key until you see the individual mailboxes. Routing boxes will not be displayed.

ok so I checked & 800 is the day greeting & 801 is the night greeting. Now I just have to figure out how to change the message & it looks like your saying we need some type of supervisor access? If we find that number how do we access those 2 messages to change them? Also what do we do if we can't find that number?

thx

Yes, by default supervisor rights are required to modify routing boxes, because the 'owner' of those boxes is box 70 (the supervisor). The easiest way to change greetings in the routing boxes is to log into box 70 (yes you will need the supervisor password), choose 6 for supervisor's menu, choose 2 for routing box administration, enter the box number, press 1 to confirm the box, then press 3 to modify the box. You will then be at the menu to record greetings, change routing digits, etc.

To log into box 70, call into the voicemail. Hit # until it asks you for the mailbox number. You may then enter 70 and continue with the steps above.
