I am in need of 100-200 feet of Outdoor rated Cat5e cable to be run alongside a brick exterior for a wireless installation. I don't want to be stuck purchasing 1000 feet. Does anyone have some to sell?
Send me a PM if you are able to help. Thanks!

Hi Jeff,
Sorry, I have none to sell, but whatever you find, just be careful and make sure that it is high quality... one mustn't use low quality CAT5e exterior cable because the purity of the electrons will be compramised. :-)

Jeff I've got a couple hand coils I know are over 100 feet, but I don't know if they are 5 or 5e. I'll try to get out to the storage shed today and let you know.

Sorry Jeff the hand coils are CAT5. I've only got about 50 feet of 5e.

Graybar quoted me a price for 100 feet, did not mention a cut charge...they have a master spool they will cut from.

Jeff, don't forget about protection.....most likely more than the cost of the cable in your case.

A cheap switch (5 port $25) on the frame end. Nothing on the AP end. If you want to feel warmer and fuzzier, try ITW Linx and it will cost you more than the cable https://www.google.com/search?q=itw+linx+cat5-poe-rj45&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=&oe=&rlz=1I7ADFA_en

Carl providing proper protection goes beyond "warmer and Fuzzier " a "cheap switch " wont cut it , Ive seen lighting go right through switch's and modems , Ive also seen it literally blow the ITW linx stuff off the wall .(the equipment was fine though ) so what if the protections "cost more than the cable " cable is usually the cheapest component on any install

My favorite, and the most expensive Cat-5e protector was the DL-1200 I installed 3 years ago. It took forever to get, was a PITA to install the end jacks, and it has (knock on wood) not failed in those 3 years. It was the intermediate point in an outbuilding and all the outdoor data cables ran to that building.

I knew an old (now Silent Key) ham that would dilligently remove his antenna cable from his T/R relay, and directly ground it. One night, a lightning bolt hit his antenna, and blew a hole in the wall where the cable went through. His rigs were tube, and were unscathed, but the (of all things) the mic was blown to bits. Lightning is strange and powerful stuff. Protect everything with the best protection one can get, but also have an insurance policy on your gear! Joe
