I have a recent issue where cordless phones won't work in some new houses. I have installed Nortel CICS systems,Panasonic 900 MHZ and Uniden spread spectrum sets. POOR coverage. Cell phones won't work in these houses either. All of these houses have have standing seam steel roofs and are wrapped in foil covered insulation panels. I feel it's the building construction but can't find any supporting documentation. Anyone else see this?????

I can understand the Cell phones not working but cordless phones not working within the building makes me wonder. I wonder if the insulation might be absobing enough of the signal. have you tried setting the base up in the middle of the room? is the reception good anwhere in that room? what about down hallways with line of site to the base? If you are able to make these work then it would be the walls (extra lead in the paint!) with the foil insulation would be the culpret.

We have moved base stations around, tried extended range antennaes, different brands of cordless, etc. These are high end houses and the buyers are really torked, the builders blames the phones.. yaddi yaddi yaddi. I'm hoping someone has seen documentation about environmental building factors affecting the performance. This is only happening in homes with this foil wrapped insulation panels and steel roofs. I would love to show this to the buyers and builder.

Why don't you hook one directly to the demark and see what you get' I had some problems in the past with some of the digital cordless not having enough REN,but it didn't effect aything but the ringing ,I would contact Engenius for the information you are seeking, also do they have wireless network also.2.4GHZ

try the pan cell system w/ several bases inside and some outside in a weather tite box. Yes that will cost some but tell them hi end houses need hi end solutions. We did one with 3 base units in the house, 4 outside the house- one on each side, 3 at the barn about 1000 feet away, 1 inside and 2 out. Works great but they may have to give up some other Bling Bling.

Thanks for the replies guys. I took several sets out to the main problem site and showed the builder that the range outside the home was phenomenal and yet you could not get get range for *&#% inside. Turns out we found the House was constructed with radiant barrier siding for energy efficiency and that will prevent almost all wireless apps from operating.
