One of our phones in our office has had the speaker light on for some time now. When you pick up the line it goes off, but it goes back on after a few seconds when you put the receiver back down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you have either a stuck button (caused by a dirty keypad) or just a dirty keypad. Is the telephone in "speakerphone mode" when the light is on? i.e. can yu select a line and hear a dial tone without picking up the handset? Then it is likely that the "speaker" button is actually sticking down or that there is residue on the keypad causing a short. If not, then there is probably residue or corrosion on the tracings leading t the LED indicator lamp. Either way, the only easy way to stop it is to completely dissasemble the telephone and clean off the keypad itself. I do NOT recomend doing this yourself!!! Send it to a qualified repair facility, like ours ![[Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]](https://www.sundance-communications.com/forum/smile.gif) .

I've never sold the 816 but looking through the manual,if you have call forwarding turned on at your set the according to the manual the spkr light will flicker. If that's the case the handset on hook dial #11 to cancel the all call forwarding #12 to cancel call forward busy Usually with an electronic telephone if you have a stuck button then none of the other buttons will work because of the way the keys are read by the microprocessor in the phone.
