Our company recently had an employee leave so we want change the extensions. The former employee was x2 on the external greeting and we want to bump everyone else up a place. How do i change that extension so that when people calling in press 2 they will get a different phone.

Side note: I'm just the computer guy so my phone knowledge is limited. I have the user guide, the keyset user guide and the system administrator and special features booklet but none of them mentions anything about this. Any help would be much appreciated (our installed went out of business and dropped off the face of the earth).

All we have is the big box that samsung DCS 50si on it. I know how to change that welcome message and it is all done through the samsung phones so I don't think we have what you are talking about. It may be a matter of just swapping people's extensions. Right now the phone in my office (currently option 2 on the welcome message) is extension 210 and the phone we was to be option 2 is extension 209. So it may be a matter of just switching those two numbers. I really don't know how the system works i'm just guessing.

If you were right though and i do have that answering system how would i find out? Is it a piece of hardware i should see in our electrical room with the 50si?

Thanks for the help.

How are you changing the welcome message?
Your voicemail system could very well be inside the 50Si system like a Cadence or an SVMi.If you want to change peoples extensions that can be done but then they go through the hassle of resetting the mailbox(do they know the old pasword?) business cards that may have their extension number on them, contacts that already know the extensions.Let me know how you change the welcome message and I can probably helpyou.

I believe we use cadence...I can changed the welcome message by hitting:

msg
#
*999
****
9
then i just follow the menus that comes up from there.

In answer to your earlier question it would not be a big deal to just change people's voicemail etc, we have the passwords for everyone's voicemail.

Ok Cadence single digit options correspond to option codes 1263 (for digit 1) up to 1270 (for digit 8).Enter as you did above and enter the operation/configuration option.I also edited your post above to remove the passcode.

That is EXACTLY what i was looking for. I had found that menu before but didn't know what to put for the option code so i wasn't even sure if that was the place to do it.

I really can't thank you enough for your help on this though, I never would have gotten it otherwise.
