Hi. On the Samsung Voicemail(SVMI8e). Can anyone tell me the process of forwarding a voice message to an email. I must be looking at the wrong manual because I did not see any information on how to set this up? Is there a software needed to install on a networked computer which acts as a server for this function? Do you input the email address directly into the SVMI card when you connect via hyperterminal? Does it ask you to input an extension's Email address to be forwarded? In other words, if I want my voicemail(mailbox 320) to be send to " [email protected]", where do I need to assign that email to my extension? Thanks.

I just did it on our SVMi 16
You need to go into system parameters and put the IP of the smtp server, then you need to go into the mclass block and on about the 3 page of settings put in the smtp server ip in that page too.
Then simply go to the user's mailbox, enable email and put in the addresses you want to use. I think the system should come with 5 emails enabled, check the first page of system parameters, then you can buy licenses for add'l emails.
I'm waiting on my dealer to get me pricing on add'l licenses.

wow.. timely post... im installing my first email gateway at a client site today. Thanks for the info!
Also, in case anyone hasnt used it yet, get your sales people out there selling officeserv link, call and easyset. Not only are they awesome in the amount of functionality, but they are practically plug and play. I set mine up in about 2 hours.

Do those Officeserv products only work with Release 2 systems or will it work on the 500 Release 1 system as well?

Sorry for the dumb question but do you know if you can use something to send outgoing email from your SVMI8E such as a web based email like Yahoo mail? Could a web based email like yahoo mail act as the smtp server or does the office have to be setup with a email server. I should know the answer to this but I just always started out using yahoo mail and never microsoft outlook so I'm not an expert on email technology and language. Thanks for your help

As far as i know the officeserv products only work with release 2. But I say that because they were not released until release 2. It *may* be backwards compatible. I have not tried.
Also, I was working on this email gateway today and it kept coming back saying "Unable to Login to SMTP server". I think I might have some settings wrong because I was trying to log voicemail in as a known good account and password.
what should I enter under the "domain" field on the system wide params and mclass block? and in the mailbox block of the mbx I am using, what should I enter in the "From" field?
Those were the only two areas I was confused on...

I just set one up, u cannot use any web mail that has SSL. ex: gmail, i have got it setup using sbcyahoo mail, if u can get your webmail server to allow pop then u should be able to use the email gateway without having to set one up at your office. but u will have to pay for pop, for example, yahoo mail hotmail. office serv products can only be used on release 2 products.

1. About the Webmail issue. If I understand correctly. If your web mail supports POP protocol, then it can be used to send your Voicemail to your E-mail using the SMTP format. I guessing you could use something like the free mail account with Comcast or your ISP has an outgoing mail server and send it to yahoo, gmail, etc...
2. The SVMI-8 can support an unlimited number of E-mail and 8 ports without additional hardware? You only need to buy a serial code to unlock these features?
3. If you have a hard drive fail on the SVMI-8, do you have to buy a new voicemail or can you backup the program and put it on a new hard drive(Norton Ghost Image backup)? 4. How do you know the Office Serv can only be used on Release 2 products? Does the Release 1 system not have the ability to export the data to the server? Are you 100% certain of this?
Thanks for your help.

1. yes that is correct, but u cannot use gmail or anything that requires ssl as your pop. svmi8e does not support ssl.
2. yes, the svmi8e has 5 email gateway subscribers that come on the card from the factory. u can purchase more subscribers from samsung.
3. i don't know about the ghost image. u can back up the vmail using the lan port
4. yes, u have to release 2 on the 500 and the 100 v2.4x or higher. u also have to have the smcp for the 100. office serv is not supported on the release 1 products. this is coming from samsung themselves.
