You didnt answer the question

What happens when you dail 549 from an extension.

Does it ask for a passcode?
after the passcode does it say you have no messages or "for more options press 0"

I'm sorry, I forgot about that question.

Yes, it ask for a passcode which indicates the mailbox does exist.

Also, if call into the voicemail from an external number, I can dial #6 and be transferred to any mailbox number. I also saw the extensions in the HyperTerminal screen.

The problem I'm running into is when a station tries to do a voicemail transfer directly to someone's mailbox. It just sends them to the general greeting menu instead of the mailbox.

Thanks.

I can’t believe it, IT ACTUALLY WORKED!!!!!! Success!!!

I changed MMC 601 from VMAA Group to Bi-VMS group and now it works when I transferred the call!!!

Thank you TELCOM for reviewing all the steps and settings I had to such a detailed level and finding my error. I really appreciate your time and help in finding this and letting me know how to correct it.

You know both my SVMI and Samsung iDCS 500 tech manual do not mention that group 549 needs to be set to Bi-VMS instead of VMAA.

In fact the manual only tell me that I have 3 options when setting up a group in MMC 601.
“
Option #1 Normal: Used to assign to station
Option #2 VMAA: Used to assign voicemail port extensions which must be define in MMC 207,etc…
Option # 3 UCD: Used to build UCD groups……
“

There is absolutely no mention of setting up a Bi-VMS at all and I don’t know why.

I’m curious as to the different between VMAA vs Bi-VMS groups?

Well, now when I press VT549 Transfer + extension number. Instead of getting the general greeting like I used to. I now get the message that goes something like “ I’m sorry, the person you are trying to reach is unavailable, please press #1 to leave a message” or try another extension. I have tried this and it leaves a message for the person’s extension number that I dialed.

Ideality I would like it to transfer directly to the mailbox without the prompt but I’m very excited that now messages can be actually transferred to the extension instead of just going to the general mailbox.

I would also like to thank everyone else who gave me such helpful suggestions because the other option you suggested were also very real possibilities that would cause the transferring not to work. Such as not having a mailbox setup in the system, or having it point to the wrong mailbox block number or having the search parameters in the DAY&NIGHT missing the ??? srch mbx 01 and ???? srch mbx 01 data,etc... This was very complicated problem that many possible problems.

I am sure that I will have more questions down the road but I just wanted to say thanks for helping me solve this one.

Some times, companys will put a different VM System on the 500. In that case you would use the VM/AA group option. The Bi-VMS is for all of Samsungs products. Cadence or SVMi.

Look at other posts for Samsung. You can set up the VM without the promps thru EClass.

Thats why us techs get certified. They explain stuff like that in the class.

Log into that mailbox and set up the no answer greeting and or the mailbox greeting. Its explained pretty good in this thread towards the bottom.

My old voicemail product(non-samsung 3rd party) was setup using the VMAA groups. I kind of assumed that setting up the SVMI would be the same concept but using the extensions associated with the SVMI instead of the 3rd party system.

I just wish the manual said something like

Use BI-VMS for Samsung voicemail products, use VMAA for 3rd party voicemail systems. I guess its an honest mistake.

Thanks again.
