Does anyone here know what file format the prompts for the svmi are recorded in? I have a customer that wants to load professionally recorded prompts to use as his main greeting, but I don't know if this can be done or not. Anyone have any ideas.

Record the greetings under promts 6000 onwards. Then replace all required greetings with newley recorded greetings.
EG replace prompt 0761 (promt indicating error) to 6001 (promt re-recorded)

You can replace the prompts speaking into a handset. If you try to use a pre-recorded message of any type you will not be happy with the quality

To answer your question they are XXXXX.pmt
32kbs/8KHz/ mono dialogic adpcm or "VOX" is what you have to have them recorded in and then installe them on the flash and convert them with the buildpmt utility.
I will repeat what has been said here and tell you, you wont like it. Also you really need to know what you are doing to make this happen.
Note to other readers here this is not admin or end user information and you could render the voicemail inactive.

Thanks guys. I have years of experience with the svmi series voicemails so I know how to record the prompts the normal way, and also where they are located on the drive and all that, I was looking for the more unconventional way to do the prompts as wrichey posted. I'm wondering though now why the quality is not there as you guys state, I would guess samsung would need to use essentially the same process? I'll have to experiment a little and see what happens.
Thanks again guys for your answers!

There is always level of loss because of the transformation of audio file types like analog vox to pmt or "cd quality audio" to mp3 and so on.
If you consider that you are speaking into a handset even though it is mono it is a high quality mono.
Its not Samsung but more the techonology of the software you need to transform the files into something usable. In other words changing an mp3 to analog takes loss then analog to vox takes more loss. You get the point.

One of our customers was an audio guru and took the instructions that Samsung had for inserting sound files into the SMVI-e series and had it working perfectly.
He would probably enjoy teaching anyone how to do it. If you want to PM me your e-mail address I will forward it to him. I think it was not well documented in the Samsung literature and once he understood what to do it was a snap.

wrichey, I think you're right about it being more of a conversion software issue than the samsung. I had to do this once for a Mitel ICP3300 and the conversion file I ended up with sounded great on the system.
robe2conoby, if you could post the name of the adapter that would be great.
bunnie, I sent you a pm with my email.
Thanks again!
