Hi, Your suggestions are much appreciated! My new employer has Comdial Impact 8024S phones. To find out if I have voice message I must pick up the phone and listen for a stutter tone. There are 3rd party products that provide a blinking light notification for stutter tone phones. But, which one to buy? Not all products work with all phones. I need to know if my phone is analog or digital? Also the message voltage? Here are the choices: 1. Viking VR-1A https://www.vikingelectronics.com/products/pdf/vr-1a.pdf 2. Viking LM-1A https://www.vikingelectronics.com/products/view_product.php?pid=260 Not designed to recognize stutter dial tone from any analog telephone company phone line or PABX). Input: 80V DC to 150V DC message waiting voltage, minimum 40V AC ring voltage 3. Sandman Stutter Tone PBX Analog Station Port Message Signal https://www.sandman.com/messwait.html 4. https://www.tesmw.com/ The TES-856LP message waiting light works behind Comcast, Vontage and Cisco ATA 186 analog systems. Regards,
Thanks,
Jack

First of all, to the forum. A Comdial Impact system is digital, so when you say you have to listen to "stutter" dial tone, you must not have premise based voice mail. Does that mean you have only one mailbox for everybody, or do you listen to a particular line for your voice mail? No matter, the message waiting is "stutter" and not voltage, BUT, in order to make it work, you need to have a completely separate line and jack to plug the unit into. The phone is digital and it talks to the Impact system. It does not carry the signals of analog lines. You will probably want to involve a Comdial installer to help you set up the unit, especially if what you have isn't what I think. Your premise based voice mail would already have the ability to light the message lamp on your phone. Carl

Thank you, Carl, for the welcome and the reply.
We have about 30 people and 30 phones in our department (there is another department on our floor on what appears to be the same system). We each have a phone at our desk, with our own line and our own vm box.
If our vm is not premised based, does that means it is Verizon, CO, vm?
I will confirm where the vm system resides (it may take a few days, the phone tech guys are not on site).
Thanks,
Jack

Do you have to get on an outside line in order to check your voicemail, or do you dial an internal extension? Impact phones work on several different Comdial systems. What is the actual system model in the back room? DSU, DSUII, DXP, DXP+, FXS, FXT, FXII, MP5000?
