Use 7100's they are:
1 Cheap 2 Cheap for 2 Port MGI licence thats all you need for small sites networking 3 Have onboard VM 4 Cheaper to replace box with 7100 than add MGI to OS100 etc
Any upgrades needed on the OS 500 will be fairily minor in the scheme of a 50 system network it may be a good opportuinity to replace it with a 7400. If you want to do fax you will need to upgrade to MGI3 at least however I would leave the faxing alone if possible.

Found something else today.
Networked a 7100 to an OS500 using SPNET and none of that nice SPNET station name info came through on the screen. Rang tech support and apparently it's not supported on the OS500 when linked to newer 7100's.
I also had much clearer calls on a remote logged v3.21 7IP logged onto the 7100 over the WAN than the same handest logged onto the local OS500 with MGI2's on the local LAN. So one would assume that the newer MGI's are far better than the older MGI2.

Stay with what's proven. I just don't think the 7100 has enough of a track record yet to place it in a medical arena. If cost is not much of the issue, I would put in 7200's in all locations except where the 500 is. Change out all MGI cards to MGI16's. Sell them on a data rack and the ease of doing their own moves and the compact design would place all of their communications in one area. We know that the SPNET works on those 2 boxes
