can someone lead me in the direction of how to get my samsung DTR module to pick up SMDR from my Samsung Prostar DCS? Thank you in advance for your help.
PS: DTR is connected to extension 213 with its own connection on the back of the phone with the expansion card. Thanks Bob

First, what system do you have? The old plastic box DCS required a SIM module with a 25 pin serial connector.
The Compact had SMDR coming out of the serial port on the Misc 2 card, (maybe the Misc 1 also, can't remember.)
Then there was the 50Si and the iDCS 100 and the 7000 series control units.
When asking for information, information is king or in my case queen.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I have the old plastic box DCS and it has the module that connects into the back of the phone, so it is just like and extension. Maybe I program extension 313 to some kind of perameter? the phone that has this computer chip in the back of it is extension 213?

That "chip" is a daughter board. It allows you to make use of the sub extension. The sub extension does need to be programmed for SMDR in the system itself.
Assuming you have the correct cables, you can monitor output with hyper-terminal for testing purposes.

how do i program this, when i started up the hyperteminal to monitor com1 there was no action at all when a call was placed and hung up - therefore, i think it is simply that the phone system is just not providing data to this sub extension (313????). can you help me out with this. i'm having these problems simply because my power supply failed and apparently wiped out all my previous programming. Thanks Bob

If you have a ROM 1, (farthest card on the right in the base cabinet) you can only use port 1.
If you have a ROM 2 you can select port 1 for SMDR and port 2 for something else.
Service would be SMDR (Station Message Detail Recording).
Sim pair would be the extension you have hooked to the SIM module. If the extension is 206 and you are plugged into the daughterboard in 206 your sim pair would be the daughterboard extension 306. This assumes nothing has been changed in stations in xxx.
Normally a daughterboard inserted into a phone would have an extension number 100 higher than the phone. 203 and then 303 for the daughterboard, 215 and then 315 for the daughterboard, etc.

Imagine my embarrassment when I saw that MMc's above user or admin guide were posted. Sorry for the delay in fixing this. The information you have now received should have been done in a private message. So as a courtesy I have copied this information and sent it to you in a PM, so you can access it when you would like. I am also posting a copy of the guide lines here for you to review. While I realize we are "relaxing" things a bit. This is not one of them. 2. Please do not post passwords or any other privileged information in the public forums (see Rules in link near the top of the page). As a rule of thumb, if the information is not in the users or administrators guide, do not post it in the forum. If you wish to relate such information in regard to a post, you should do this by sending a private message or an email to the poster.
3. The board is intended to assist two types of members, end users and professional telephone technicians (installers). If you are a novice or a do-it-yourself end user looking for advanced assistance with a system install, you should post your question with as much detail as possible and expect a response from a qualified installer who can take your issue off the board and answer your questions via private message, email or over the telephone. You should expect to pay a fee to compensate the installer for their time, experience and help. If the technician chooses to help you for free, that is totally up to the technician. You can also send a PM or email to any of the moderator(s) of the forum in which you need assistance if additional assistance is needed. Again, you should expect to pay for any technical assistance offered. They can also be found here for future reference. Thank you for your understanding.
