First of all, thanks for all your help last time.

I have a problem that seems simple but I can't figure it out:

I was moving some phones around and unplugged a "receptionist" 64 button module phone. I plugged it back in the same way it was before and now NO BUTTONS work except for the numbers. Also when someone tries to call this phone all they get is "DSS Box" displayed with no ring.

Thanks for your help.

Nik

Look at the extension number displayed on the phone. Most likely it's a different extension number because it sounds like you switched the plugs.

If, in fact, you did get the cords crossed, you most likely erased the programming for both the phone and the AOM.

I'll check. If that is the case, would reprogramming the phone/extension make the buttons work again?

Once you switch the cords back, the phone should see the AOM. Depending on how the buttons for the phone and AOM were programmed, they might work. If not, you will need to reprogram the keys on both the phone and AOM.

It is displaying the right extension and name.

It is an iDCS 28D. One of the other symptoms is that when I press the "speaker" button the external speaker does not come on, everything is routed through the handset.

Also, people can call in, but when I pick up it does not connect, the outside caller cannot hear my voice.

When inside users call the extension number displayed on the phone, are they still seeing the DSS Box on their display? It sounds like the programming for the phone has been erased. Again… this can happen if the two devices were switched at any point. The solution is fairly simple, but it requires tech level access to the system.

If you have tech level access, check Assign Add-On Module to make sure the two devices are paired together. You can also get the extension number for the AOM from this field. Once you know the extension number for the AOM, go into Station Key Programming and verify the button assignments for both extensions.

The information provided above is the most I can do to help you in the public forum. If you are still having problems, please contact your dealer or if they are not available, any of the moderators of this section can help.

CIT,

You are right.

When I replugged the phone, I inadvertantly crossed the wires. Doing this erased the 28button portion. I went back in and fixed this and then had to separately link the 64b to the 28b.

Thank you for your help. Now I know where to go first of all if this happens again.
