Mgere, that is specific to your tester. It just doesn't diplay it as negative number. All loss is a negative number as (-)= loss. A positive would indicate you have gained something. When the light passes through the fiber, the connectors, patch cables, etc, you will never gain on the signal. It will always show the degraded signal as a loss of light/power. Any loss is going to be negative. My tester a Noyes, always show the loss as a negative number.
