This may be a funny question, but we have seen it here before,
If you are using shielded cable, are you using the proper connectors and bonding your sheild on both end?
If not, the sheild will act like an antenna, and you will experience all kinds of trouble.

That's why I suggested a test of both shielded and unshielded with that tester.
