I have a residential customer who just had his electrical panel set fire to the rest of the basement. I can re-run most of the voice and data wires to the first floor, by using the old wires as snakes and fishing the new wires up into the walls. The second story is another matter. I can't re-run them, but need to splice them. May I have your opinion(s) on these little critters for the data wires? Thanks in advance! click ![[Linked Image from telephoneparts.com]](https://www.telephoneparts.com/pictures/scaled_60001splice.jpg)

A cat5e jack and an RJ45 work just fine also. You are not suppose to splice, But hey it will pass the test.

Thanks, all.
I only need a few, Ed, so I will pick them up locally. But thanks for the offer.

I gotta borrow this post/pic that SST posted in this thread , as my visual reference on how to splice CAT5e... I have had to do this on occasion, like when somebody cuts the wire in the middle of a run and repulling isn't an option. I usually cut both ends down onto a jack and connect with a 3' patch cord, make a mini IDF in the ceiling, and of course mark it on the print and in the service notes
