I have a question. I have a 56s that has message notification on a few mailboxes. When a mess. is left the v-m calls a cell ph. and the receiver hears "you have new messages, please enter your password." The problem is that I have more than one mailbox (a pers. m.b. and the emerg. m.b.) calling the same cell ph#. Is there a way to have the v-mail play a custom prompt such as "you have new mess. from mailbox 300"? (or 301, ect.) I have recorded the directory for these boxes but those recordings are not played when the v-m calls out to a m.b. owner. Any help would be great. Tom

p.s. ESI newbie!

Setup a uniform password for all of the boxes that are set to notify the same cell phone. Then, regardless of which one is notifying the cell, the password will be the same. If you set them all to no password (0), that would work too. I would suggest going with a password that's not zero, and not one of the box numbers, for security purposes.

That's what I have set up now. There is no other option? The prob. is when I get the mess. in a noisy enviroment and want to retrive it later I have to log in to different m.b. until I find the message because I don't know which m.b. called me. Thanks for your response.

This is one of the things that require being creative. In some setups all the voice lines are set up in line group 9 and the fax line is set up in line group 8. Set the personal mailbox to notify using group 8 and the emergency box to use group 9. You will then be able to tell which box called using caller ID. You could just check both boxes when u call in.

You could always set up a 3rd mailbox with a virtual mailbox key on your phone. Anytime you get a message you want to keep transfer it to the new mailbox and when you return to the office you have a flashing light to remind you of the message. Hope the ESI thing is working out well.

Thank you all for your responses. Although they were not the answers I was looking for, your ideas are valued. And yes the ESI reseller program is going well. I have several systems installed and like the product. Very comforable to work with. Thank you all again. I am sure I will be asking more questions soon. Tom

Grider,
I thought all ESI products always use trunk group 9 for outdial notification, has that been changed?
That would be great for tenant applications.
Thanks
Rick

Rick,
The personal mailboxes use whatever line group is assigned to the extension which is usually 9. Guest mailboxes use the line group they are programmed to use. In this case it would be 8.

This being the 56s scenario. I'm not certain about other ESI systems such as the E,X or 600's.
