On that screen change the port type from 070 to 000.Try that and hook up your spare screen and see if it works.

Ahhh, so that's where I was going wrong!
I'll give that a try soon!
Thanks!

If you have a transient suppresor in-line on your service cable, then take that out. Another simple thing to chack is the service cable's connector on the backplane of the cabinet. If the screw at the top of the connector is overtight, then the bottom will kick-out and leave ports 3&4 doing funny things.

I had to switch the terminal off and back on again for it to start working. <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by Doug@Aable: If you have a transient suppresor in-line on your service cable, then take that out. I'll mess with that early in the morning or late this evening after the ACD stats have printed.

Even with the spare wired directly to Port 3, it blinks out and redraws sometimes up to 3 times a minute. The picture is beautiful, though-- no line noise evident as it usually is up at the front.
Up at the front, Ctrl-D won't enter the Directory-- but at the MDF, it will. When in the directory, suddenly the display blanks out and goes back to the normal operator screen. It does not automatically move away from the Help screen or the Setup screen, however.

Another question-- are the RS-422 ports designed to be active from the service port of the second cabinet? If so, would what is labeled port 3 on it actually be port 4 for the whole system? Or does it get numbered a different way? I have the six additional logical ports by virtue of having the EDCM, so I may try the method of running the Operator Terminal with the phone box (from kit 09004) and using that terminal to control the phone... I just have to wire up the connection from that box to the terminal... I do a lot of thinking aloud on this forum...

My Thoughts...to your statements..
Another question-- are the RS-422 ports designed to be active from the service port of the second cabinet
They are ' active ' BUT, You can't Use them to run the Op's Term on... They are basiclly look only.

Yes, You could try that, However when using a Phone or a DDI the interface is now rs232 not 422... so, not only do You need to wire it differently, You also need to set up the Terminal Different to match...
I would try defaulting the terminal settings
I think it's Ctrl-Icm to get into settings? then F-10 then save all and exit, reset power and give it a shot.
also, Check Your wiring again out at the jack location, I think maybe one wire is busted..

(If you'll read my prior posts, you'll see I've been in the Setup screen before.) One of the FIRST things I did when the problem started was to default the settings on the terminal. It's not too big a deal if the Operator Terminal is in "read-only" mode on that other port-- the operator does not modify the directory, nor do any calls go through the Terminal itself. The Operator Phone is a 29K Display Phone wired to its own station port. The Terminal is just for informational purpose only.
