i recently installed norstar voip gateway between 2 customer sites.connection to internet at both ends is a t1 to an isp.there is a norstar mics at both ends using loop start auto answer trunks and 4 digit dialing.i followed instructions in the manual religously to minimize delay, but there is still a 9 or 10 second pause from when you dial an extension on the far end to when you hear ringback.is this standard?its set for fast start,no gatekeeper, don't play ringback tone,i have the # programmed for end of digits, and its not behind a nat firewall. any suggestions ?

Welcome to the board scssteve!

Its not a network problem. Its a known issue related to the way the Norstar handles AutoAnswer Analog trunks.

Unfortunately, the only way to AVOID the delay would be to make the lines Appear&Ring on a set. Since this would kill your 4-digit dialing, its not usually a desirable solution.

You can't get rid of the delay, but the gateway can provide a "comfort" ringback tone during the delay period.

I have the same issue except I have 2 MOD ICS W/ norstar gateways and a new BCM 400. I also get a 8-10 second delay. Where would I provide the "comfort" ringback tone. Is this "Play ringback to IP" in the gateway config? how would this effect the BCM?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
