I'd like to be able to route one phone number to two houses in different locations. I've always wondered but have never asked. Can you set up two separate boxes with identical ids at two houses?

What kind of service? VOnage? I dont know what would happen if you tried a MAC address clone... I bet it would screw with their server.

I have Broadvoice and this can be done with their feature Simultaneous Ring. Of course you will need two accounts but can be done easy.

You could also do this if you had a voip server, ie asterisk (www.asterisk.org). Register the VoIP line to the server, then both boxes (ATAs) to the server, and set the server to send any calls from the line to both boxes at the same time.

This would require a PC running Linux/asterisk, doesnt have to be much anything from the last ~10years shoudl work. let me know if you want more detail.

The minimum hardware for an asterisk box is probably a 400-500mhz PII with 256mb ram and 4gb disk. beef up the speed and memory if you're going to be using the voicemail and ACD features much.
