Once I get the new motherboards today or tomorrow, I will build my remote machines. This will give me a better idea of how good these intergrated motherboards are. I think for what I need, they are going to perform nicely. You can't buy them much cheaper, so if it does work out, I might try to stock up on a few.

It's a small, all-metal case with a plastic cover on the front for small USB dongles/etc. I usually stick one of the dual-core atom boards in it with 2-gigs of memory. Lots of mounting options including brackets to mount to a backboard. About the only negative thing is it uses an external power-brick. But it seems that most of the small ITX cases use a power brick of some sort.

The other case I use for rackmount applications is the SuperMicro X7SLA-H mobo and either a CSE-502 or CSE-503 (front or rear I/O). Easily bolt a fan or two on the inside, and plenty of space and power (200w). You can also add a single expansion card as long as it is half-height (low-profile). I usually buy the 2.5" hard-drive brackets from supermicro as the drives create less heat and are quieter.

I am still trying out a couple of different cases, but the trixbox and celeron motherboard are installed on a CoolerMaster Elite 100 with a 150w power supply. I am running a standard 3.5 inch drive, but in the remote boxes and I am installing 20 GB laptop SATA drives. the coolermaster doesn't allow for use of the expansion slot, so I am also looking at a couple of cases on Newegg for about $40 each.
