I like the voicemail solution. It seems like a clean & simple idea.

Same here. MrG's suggestion would allow every call to either number be either answered, or diverted to a voice message providing the caller with the other telephone number.

Mr. G,
Would three OPX (Off premise extensions) work for your customer? That would allow users sitting at the remote location to use the home office PBX, just as if they were sitting in the same location.

I thought of this but we would have do it times 2.
The so called "remote" location would become the main location every other day.
the smaller location only has 3 CO lines and it wouldn't justify a complete system, IP or otherwise.
Is there a way to have an 800 number automaticly change the pilot number on a schedule?

Wayne, AT&T Long Distance offers this 800 number service. They refer to it as "Advanced Features" and they charge a pretty penny for it. I don't see it as being an option in the grand scheme of things.

Knowing that there's no desire for a system at the small site, my vote would be for them to have an IP-hybrid system at the main office, like the TDA and then have three IP phones hanging off of it at the remote office. All it would cost them over there would be a DSL or cable account which is a lot cheaper than dedicated circuits. Since you can program CO line appearances on the IP phones, they would function just like on-premise extensions with regard to the main number, etc.

Yes Ed, but again, that's only one way.
The remote office isn't always staffed.
If someone calls the main number to the remote office we still need to be able to answer it at the Main location.

I don't see how you can do it then, Wayne. Unless they just want to have Fwd-No-Answer on both lines.

Ok, I think the way to do this is to not look for "true dual" service.
1 IP system at the main location.
Add 3 new CO lines to the main location in it's own group. These numbers won't be published.
Keep the main number of the remote location and have the LEC setup a permanent CFWD/all to the pilot new number.
I may even be able to setup the outgoing CID on these 3 to show the main number that's CFWD/all.
Now we have control of all the CO lines at one location and I can set up 3 or 4 IP or OPX extensions at the remote site.
Thanks to everyone for all the input!
MrG

I'd look into a VOIP provider for trunks at the main location.... Most who offer business types of services have a "ring all" feature, where you could simply program (through a web interface) calls to the main voip number to ring at the voip number and another number.

I use Sunrocket, and have used exactly that when I was running between the house and the office on a project.
