Even though a 5ESS normally has at least 2 ports assigned for ROTL interoffice trunk testing (Remote Office Test Line), I don't use it due to most testing I do is done thru either the TLWS (Trunk & Line Workstation), various diagnose poke commands within the MCC display pages, or the "TST:TRK,...." input message.

I tested from my home telephone, and my local provider translates a "11" the same as a *, pending a pause being received after the 4th digit.

I’ll echo what Mike said. We did not use ROTL testing.
