Guys,
I am currently working on a cabling project and the customer has asked me some questions about cameras. He said he purchased some Logitech webcams, which I assume are not really for CCTV. He wants to know if there is a way to connect these through the network and then be able to view the cameras from PCs on the network. I am thinking this is something he needs a more sophisticated system for, but I wanted to see if anyone could give me some insight.
Thanks!

I've never tried to network web cameras for any reason but I would imagine there are ways of doing it. I'm sure it will require specific software to do so like the link FiberTech gave you.

What is the customer's goal?

same as bobby I am sure their is something thatcan do it but what is he trying to achieve? If he is using it for security he would be better off with a few ip cameras or a DVR connected to the network

Basically he just wants some cameras in strategic locations, and wants the ability to view them from PC's on the network. I know this is feasible with a variety of systems/packages. However, he purchased some USB webcams, thinking that he could somehow have a network connection on them, and be able to view them one the network. I think the solution is to buy different cameras.

To avoid further confusion: If the customer is wanting to view a couple of cameras on a small home network then you may have room to rig something up for him. If that's what you are willing to do. I've always gotten a big bite in the butt when I've tried that in the past so I don't attempt it any more.
And if this is a commercial network, you are talking about an entirely different animal.

This is starting to look like a job I would walk away from because it will be nothing but headaches for you and the customer no matter what you do because he has already spent money on equipment that may or may not do what he expected it to do in the first place.

That camera is not CCTV. It is home small network camera with 480 lines resolution, which is good. has to have CAT5E and USB connector. You can hook it up to your hub and have it on your computer home Network but in Commercial Ap. you cann't use it.

If their USB devices why not just share them on the network

This is a commercial job. I talked to another one of the partners and he said they really just need a basic CCTV system, with a split screen monitor to view around the place. So we'll see.
