I have a client that wants a paging system at his warehouse he can access from his home, either from the telephone or maybe voip. He's got a single line at the warehouse, no pbx... Any ideas?

I've used the Valcom IP solution. We installed it 4 years ago and haven't been back since.

Skip, not sure you will be able to use that if they want to have a phone on that line also, it will pick up on the first ring. It does have something called a "ring trip" adjustment but it doesn't sound like that's going to change when it picks up.

I guess the caller could just say "pick up the phone!" over the PA though.

your right Hal , I'm assuming the point would be to page when no one is there to answer

you can set the ring trip time to allow rings before page answers

you could also put it behind something like the stick

so a *3 would transfer the caller to the page amp

I was thinking the same thing, Skip. I was going to mention a Stick or something comparable since it appears that only one POTS line is present at the warehouse. That, coupled with a V-9940 or equivalent would probably work like a charm.

Yeah, me too but I didn't think it could do a transfer manually. Thought it only worked automatically for faxes.

with the stick you can transfer to two ports with a *2 or *3 at anytime either the incoming caller or on site after answering the line running through it
