I have a customer with an Executone IDS 42, who would like me to do some programming on their switch I am used to Telrad, but never touched an executone. can anyone help me?
they claim that phones don't ring because they need to be programmed. also, the vm is loosing connection between vm and switch. usually reset fixes for a day or two.

Programming requires a terminal or laptop running communication software such as Procomm Plus that emulates a Televideo 950 terminal. It is fairly easy to program once you get into it. Maybe someone here will offer to program via remote for a couple of bucks - probably a way easier solution...

what port on system do I plug up to?
I was told it was standard rs232(I know that as an rj45 port).

It is a RS 232(Db25) port on the bottom of the KSU. If a expansion card, there is another rs232 and a rs422 port on card.

When you say a rest fixes your voicemail problem what are you resetting the voicemail,the switch or both?If its a digitally integrated voicemail then maybe a different digital port may help.

um...yeah...I just found out that I was told wrong about vm problem. that was another cust with a different system. Got that taken care of.

Is there a special pin-out for the db25?

What are the standard passwords to program the 42?
I will need access to all programming. If I need to, I will default the switch, but don't know default pwds.
Please Help!
