To amplify on my comment about keeping the DSL after porting the number...
I'm sure that you could re-activate the DSL as a separate account (either "naked" with no dial-tone if you are lucky, or with dial-tone on a new number if your provider is like those around here); but my limited experiences are that if you simply request the number to be ported to another provider that your entire account including the DSL will be terminated.

porting wont do you much good without access to the web so yes check on dry DSL or look for another broadband source before porting if all else fails you could establish new service with DSL and a new number then port your exiting number
