The PCI 4-A speakerphones are not electrically equivalent to the WE models, and are not interchangeable.

I've interchanged them as direct replacements when I couldn't get WE units with PCI versions many times. Every component, down to the adapters and transformer are exact, just beige instead of gray. I have even changed out just the speaker or microphone unit while leaving the rest of the system intact. I never encountered a compatibility problem between them.

Even their part numbers were identical, except PCI's were prefaced with "PC".

Well, fooey! I owe you 50 cents, Ed. And Code-A-Phones were made by Ford Industries, who later changed their name to Code-A-Phone. They were located in the NW, Washington State, I believe. And no connection to Ford Motor Co. Worked on C-A-P for 10 years in KC, before the company I worked for started an interconnect division. We even got a contract to repair SWB 700's. We lost money on the flat rate we did them for, the first time they came in. But we made it back on the next times they came in. Turns out when W-E repaired them, they would fix the first apparent problem and call 'em good. We started by replacing all the relays, both tapes, and do all the change orders. Then we would test them. Usually passed just fine. Even got compliments from the SWB warehouse guys. Said that after we repaired 'em they would only send 1 out for a job instead of 2 or 3. Usually when they came in again, it was because the user got tired of them or bought a Record-A-Call, commercial C-A-P, Phone-mate, or whatever. John C. (Not Garand)

One other cool thing about this 4A... I like the way it cuts off the ringer if a call comes in and I'm talking on the other line. It's been a constant pain to be on a call when the other line rings. The only thing I see that it's missing is a mute button.

On the subject of ringing, when I reinstalled the C-19, I went ahead and punched down all the ringers on all the desksets/standard house phones (11 and counting). So my house shakes a bit when a call comes in, but at least the phone on my office desk doesn't ring if I'm using it.

Also it's pretty much a constant ring going on, since some phones ring from the CO and some from the KSU ring generator. Can't wait till some company is over and a call comes in.

They'll jump out of their seats.

It mutes by pressing and holding down the ON "button" while you want it muted. When you let go, it goes back to normal.

real cool the 4a speaker. The best ever.

You will need a western set.

Some of the ITT's only came with 12pr.

These where made to work with a 2564 type set. with some imagination and studying the print they would work with any Weco 2500 type set.

For single line speaker phone you needed to change some switch hook leads around.. Again in the network of the set.

Off hook a- lead..

I have one working on a 2500 Weco set.
