What a beast!
I've got a companion wired to a 2564 set in my house. When my son was about 4 years old GTE sent me off to school for the GTD-4600. The school was either 11 or 13 weeks long in Virginia. Being the good company they were GTE offered me a choice - I could rent a car while I was down there or I could fly home every weekend.
I took the weekends home. It was a no brainer. But I was still going to be away from home 5 nights a week for months. My son (now a school teacher and 30 years old) asked me "Who was going to read him his bedtime story, if I was going to Virginia for months and months?"
So I installed a Companion II (all I had in the basement at the time) and read him a story every night from Herndon. It's still there and still works and still sounds pretty good.
