On my 551 ksu, the 10VAC flat fuse is blown. Where in the world do I get another one?
I had a loose wire on the white/orange pair and it must have shorted out, and my lamps won't light up.
Thanks-
Jeff

Jeff -

Is that a flat brown fuse or a glass one? How many amps?

In a pinch, till we can get you a real replacement you could solder a pair of wires onto each end of a glass fuse of the same amperage and hook it up temporarily.

It's a flat brown fuse, 3 amps.

This guy has a boat load of fuses:

I've never had any dealings with him, but his store has been on e-bay for a long time.

Jim, I've bought lots of parts from him and he always does a good job. Besides, his prices are rock-bottom.

Use a piece of 26-gauge wire temporarily.

Use an automotive type in-line fuse holder with a 3 amp fuse to avoid the problem of finding antique fuses in the future.

Don't worry, you will not do any damage to the power supply by strapping the fuse with wire. If you try to do it at the -24 volt output, however, you run the risk if blowing out the full-wave bridge rectifier. (But that can be replaced, too.)

At the phone company, we called them "no-blow" fuses.

We called them "Johnson Bars" when I was in the Army, Arthur. Same thing, I suppose.

since its not vital that it be up immediately I would use Arthur's suggestion of a auto fuse holder and fuse rather than bypassing the fuse with wire

I installed these on many Power supply's when I didn't have the flat fuse
