I have a Protege 431596 48 port system and can't seem to remove the static (severe) from the music on hold when the radio or cd or mp3 player is plugged into any AC outlet near the system. I have installed a isolation transformer with no avail. All music input devices work when running on battery???

Sounds like a grounding issue. Check the electrical circuit and phone system for proper grounding.

Thanks, I wonder if plugging into an outlet away from the phone system would work?

It appears by your post that the RCA cable is not the problem? Just in case you must use an RCA Mini mono to RCA Mini Mono cable (stereo cables can also be the source of static)

Tools like this:

AC Outlet Anallyzer

are a beginning point. If you don't have a grounded outlet (read that as a three wire outlet) then you know the ground is likely an issue. Also remember just because it it a three wire outlet does not mean there is a ground wire.

A simple inspection will reveal if the wiring is correct. At that point you are probably "out of your league" and it's time for a professional electrician.

Keep us posted.

That is the first thing you want to do, make sure that the other outlet you plug into is not on the same breaker.

Thanks, the ground was the problem, it was wired to a metal junction box, re-wired and problem solved.
