Has anybody experience intermittent DTMF issues on outbound calls with an Executone system? The majority of the tones going out are between 80-100 ms and work fine. Every once in a while a tone will go out that is only 30 ms and will not be recognized by the carrier. We have captured the calls before they get to the carrier and the 30ms tone is definately being generated from the phone system. We have replaced the system and the problem is still occuring.

There is bucket full of questions that need answered to be able to determine possible causes. What type/model of Executone System do you have? If you captured the problem what was being dialed when it occurred? How and were you able to re-create the problem? Were there calls that weren't being completed when dialed? What kind of lines do you have? Who is your carrier? Have you had your system vendor get involved?
Please give us as much factual information as you can.
Logic has it that "if" you replaced the entire system then the system probably isn't the problem.

you are correct that on the Executone IDS it is possible to dial out DTMF digits as quick as 30 milliseconds. I was able to capture them as quick as 10 milliseconds using a Sage 930A. just hit the digit "1" repeatedly and see the results. the IDS spits them out as quickly as you dial them. However there was a fix. Depending on what IDS system you have, go to the Options menu and see if you have senderized digits as an option and enable it. This was designed for those customers with quick fingers. Basically it stores and then dials the DTMF digits. it sends the digits out at 50 to 70 millisecond increments and corrects the problem. Other options are to use LCR, last number redial or speed dials, they also store and dial the digits at 50 to 70 ms increments. The last option is to tell the customer to dial slower.

The system is a Executone medley 7.1.1. It can be any digit in any part of the dialed number. We replaced the whole phone system box. It doesn't look like this mondel has the option to enable the senderized digits. We'll just have to go the route of having them dial slower and use redial when it fails. Thanks for the help.

The Medley was not manufactured by Executone, I think the manufacture was EIS. Executone provided the system as a low cost alternative to the IDS. You might want to try contacting EIS. They should still be in business.

It's actually ESI..not EIS, anyway, It sounds like the Issue is really NOT the phone system, but, Maybe 1 bad line from telco....
You replaced the whole system and it still happens?
